Usage Note 50558: Rename and group SAS/IntrNet® application services together by name on Windows 8 Professional, Windows 8 Enterprise, and Windows Server 2012 machines

DetailsAboutRate It

Under Microsoft Windows 8 (Professional and Enterprise) and Microsoft Windows Server 2012, when a SAS/IntrNet Application Server is created with the SAS® Deployment Manager, the shortcuts created are not grouped together for each server. So, a PowerShell script was created that does grouping this for you.

In order to understand which shortcut goes with which Application service, follow these instructions to rename and group together all SAS/IntrNet shortcuts for SAS® 9.4 on Windows 8 (Professional and Enterprise) and Windows server 2012:

  1. If the folder does not currently exist, create a folder named C:\Temp.
  2. Contact SAS Technical Support to obtain the ZIP file.
  3. Download the ZIP file to the newly created C:\Temp folder.
  4. Unzip the three files (Readme.txt, RenameIntrNetShortcuts.bat, and RenameIntrNetShortcuts.ps1) to that same C:\Temp folder.
  5. Execute the RenameIntrNetShortcuts.bat file by right-clicking it and selecting Run as administrator).

These steps help to clarify which SAS/IntrNet shortcuts are for which action and also keep the shortcuts grouped together. This is an issue only when using SAS/IntrNet on Windows 8, Windows 8 Professional, Windows 8 Enterprise, or Windows Server 2012 machines.
